At 9.15 on October 21st 1966. The waste tip of Aberfan slid down the mountain engulfing everything in its path, including the school. 166 children and 28 adults lost their lives. Travelling at over 40 MPH,40,000 Cubic metres of Slag smashed into the School, they didn't stand a chance. The pupils of Pantglas Junior School had arrived only minutes earlier for the last day before the half-term holid...

With our sights set high, we can only hope that one day everyone will once again look upon these Portals in wonder and marvel at this great feat of engineering.
This Hym is as beautiful as Wales love Wales all my friends are Welsh hope to move to the Valley soon
I tried to sing this at my uncle Alun’s funeral at Mochdre’s cremation a few years ago. Went well until I turned to see the coffin and saying “Farewell “ and I cried like a good un. Hogia ni.
I love this
It was my Mam's favourite song. She died 50 years ago. I miss my Mam.
So many words! not enough actual views?
There is a deep sadness in the Welsh soul and this song epitomises this. Beautiful.
Such a moving song and sung so well. Thank you so much, Beautiful !
This is going home 😳
This is my late soulmate's ( Jonathan Henry Lee,Feeder's drummer ) dad Norman's favourite song ,Jon told me when we're kids !! What a sad & a beautiful song now haunts me in a way. 💜🥁🐉🎤🏴💞
Praise Jesus Christ 🙏 our heavenly father is alive and well and speaking through all of HIS blessed children. We love you father and patiently look forward to being with you in your Kingdom.
I went through the tunnel from blaen Rhondda to port Talbot on miners day , ( many years ago ). I'm given to understand that one of the lads in your opening photo was a member of our family.
Softens any big Welsh Dragon up...still gets me in the stomach every time I hear it
A beautiful song indeed .💜🥁🐉🎤🏴💞
Lovely to see..where was Gelli??
Cymru am byth! ... Da iawn diolch
chanson trés émouvante ! j'avais la chair de poule quand je l'écoutais à l'arms park ! une pensée pour tous les enfants disparus !
This isn't that song ! This one is about two childhood lovers got separated & the girl got mad at him & left him !! He wanted her back . I unfortunately can relate to this song as my late soulmate Jon told me when we were kids that he got a hunch that we would end up in the way as well !! And it did !! A long story . It didn't/ shouldn't had to !! We were torn apart by people ,mainly my ex bestfriend who wanted him for herself .💜🥁🐉🎤🏴💞
Hope you can accept my thanks and appreciation of these wonderful performances as an Englishman who loves your country- but won’t buy a house there.
Muito bonito um bom dia. SP Brasil
Believe it or not this is the very first choir music I heard as a chinese boy growing up in Hong Kong
Blown away simply majestic
Beautiful
My father loved this hymn and always got upset 😪every time he heard it I always think of my father when I hear this ❤ xx
Its actually not a hymn.. its a beuatiful love song, of unrequited love. It means a lot to me. My Mother and family were and are Welsh and I am so proud of that fact. I am in constant touch with my family and very connected and emeshed. Its half of me. We played this at her funeral in a little chapel in the Cotswolds where she lived. With my Welsh relatives singing their hearts out. I cannot listen to it without crying. I was brought up listening to Male Welsh Voice Choirs. Beautiful. The best.
In fact, my family are Davies' too. lol.
How Green Was My Valley, the book, and Julie Andrews have brought me here.
My aunty Gwladsys was born in Llandudno and she was always singing this tune and playing the church organ at St Rudno's on the Great Or me.
I recall Llandudno - and the Great Orme, beautiful part of the country.
The double L is very challenging to pronounce.
Beautifull song ,beautifully sung love llandudno smashing place

The Da Vinci Code - Chevaliers de Sangreal
Another step closer to our dream. Thank you for sticking with this dream of yours,so one day all us other dreamers can walk with you through the tunnel
As a Englishman I will not bore you with why I have a dislike of the Welsh. HOWEVER, before you berate me, let me add this - I have the UTMOST respect for all the men who went underground to dig coal for the Nation. As a musician I have nothing but admiration for a Welsh Male Voice Choir, this is stunningly beautiful. Finally let me say how I wish us English showed the patriotism that you show with the singing of Land of My Fathers - it makes the hairs on my neck stand up. Respect.
As an Englishman, how could you be so racist?
@@1wwc45 I dont think he is being racist he said he wont bore us with the details which means there are some...but he admits this made him dislike the welsh... it doesn't for me take rocket scientists brains to work it out! Im English but the welsh are a bloody marvellous nation... quietly and proudly patriotic and have survived hardships that would give us nightmares, with stoic resolve... I am in awe of them. This song reminds me of aberfan... which you only have to think about to imagine intense pain and they survived... terrible crime that it was.... we never forget .
@@YewandeRae never lived in wales then
They dug coal for the nation, then had to dig for their children in Aberfan
@@richardevans7035 I was 11.yrs old when the Aberfan disaster happened, my Mam and me watched it on the tele when I came in from school, Mam was crying her eyes out, coming from a mining village in Northumberland and my Dad was a pitman I can empathise with the people of Aberfan. Lorna - Pitmans Daughter and Proud of it.
Beautiful
i cun see my house butt!
we remember the pain, the horror,, the children one moment playing the next no more songs,
Beautiful.
Cymru Am Byth!!! vv
Viva Wales !!! My dragon's country Wales !!! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🏴💞
Powerful.
this was my Mam Gu's favourite song 😢 now I play it my daughter. Cymru Am Byth!
This is something I am very interested in.I do love the Idea of re opening of the tunnel.I spend a lot of time up here at the moment. Please let me know if you need any help with anything I will be glad to,I do believe England highway own the tunnel at the moment. And would be willing to hand it over to the Welsh government. Now cost could be an issue with them digging it back out.But with the wind farms going up the Bwlch they should have stuck a deal with them to dig it out.,Calling it Community engagement.A small price to pay I think for a power company wanting to put wind farms up.
This is amazing steve...can't wait for the rest...
Well, I think these days, with the Channel tunnel the recent Hindhead tunnel and of course in Switzerland they dont even think twice about putting a major road tunnel through a mountain. So i think it is easy to do it depends on the value
+hugs Wait a minute,Rhondda council cant drill through my kitchen wall to put an extractor fan in! Too thick the stone is they tell me and thats that. Great to see the tunnel though, hope it is open soon.
Very good Steve
Nice idea, who would foot the bill, how much and who will use it?
EU Funding. 6.5 Million. Cyclists/walkers/ guided tours.
Nice,my daughter doing a project on it for school.
@@7anmv Very nice pipe-dream but you won't be getting any EU money these days.
Very well done, I wish you all the best in your venture - I travelled through the tunnel many time as a youngster, I will be watching your progress.
Very...Very Impressive Steve.....well done.
I have a friend that goes to the meetings, Brian williams, and also know his mate JImmy..brian keeps wanting me to attend them, as i have had 21 years on the railway. I went to the hendreowen pub today for a run, but failed to find the tunnel entrancealthough looking at your other tunnel video on here,it seems i was preety close! Atb Martin
